The ulnohumeral and radiohumeral joints (together what we call the "elbows") work together to flex and extend the elbows. Even though there's technically only one "elbow flexion" and one "elbow extension" movement, the positioning of the forearms during those motions affects how the surrounding muscles are engaged, so here I show you the 4 main types of elbow flexion and 3 main types of elbow extension:

Elbow Flexion - Neutral
Bending your arm at the elbow while your forearm is in a neutral position
Elbow Flexion - Pronated
Bending your arm at the elbow while your forearm is in a pronated position (see Forearm Movements)
Elbow Flexion - Supinated
Bending your arm at the elbow while your forearm is in a supinated position (see Forearm Movements)
Elbow Flexion - Supinating
Bending your arm at the elbow while simultaneously supinating your forearm (see Forearm Movements)
Elbow Extension - Neutral
Straightening your arm at the elbow while your forearm is in a neutral position
Elbow Extension - Pronated
Bending your arm at the elbow while your forearm is in a pronated position (see Forearm Movements)
Elbow Extension - Supinated
Straightening your arm at the elbow while your forearm is in a supinated position (see Forearm Movements)
